History of Sun Kool
Sun Kool Air Conditioning began in 1984 in Ocala, Florida, with a simple idea: pursuing the American Dream. At 40 years old, Frank Nicholson, alongside his wife Bertie, proved it’s never too late to do that. Together they set out to build something meaningful—not just a business, but a future for their family. In the early days, it was all hands on deck, with their children, Frankie and Holly, pitching in wherever needed. Every service call and satisfied customer laid the foundation for what would become a lasting legacy.

After 15 years, Frank passed the reigns to his son Frankie. A visionary leader, prolific real estate investor, and serial entrepreneur, Frankie transformed Sun Kool’s trajectory—expanding across multiple counties and aligning growth with emerging real estate trends. His leadership drove explosive expansion, including the launch of a second location in Wildwood, Florida.
Throughout this growth, family remained at the center. Holly played an important role in the company’s early days before relocating to South Florida. In 2020, as Sun Kool experienced significant expansion, Holly formally rejoined the company as part of the executive management team. While Frankie drove strategic expansion, Holly emerged as the operational backbone of the company. A respected and formidable leader, she runs daily operations with precision—owning the details, managing the complexity, and ensuring execution at the highest level.
Today, the next chapter is being written. Frankie continues the family tradition alongside his sister Holly, while welcoming the third generation into the business: Spencer. He joins the team with an undergraduate degree in Business and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, bringing technical expertise with financial insight as he helps guide the company forward.
Together, Frankie, Holly and Spencer carry forward the founding vision with devotion to the community and hard work. Sun Kool Air Conditioning isn’t just a company; it’s a multi-generational legacy, still growing and evolving with each generation.
